14 Now the Spirit of the LORD had left Saul, and the LORD sent a tormenting spirit[b] that filled him with depression and fear.
15 Some of Saul’s servants said to him, “A tormenting spirit from God is troubling you. 16Let us find a good musician to play the harp whenever the tormenting spirit troubles you. He will play soothing music, and you will soon be well again.”
17 “All right,” Saul said. “Find me someone who plays well, and bring him here.” 1 Samuel 16:14-17
19 Delilah lulled Samson to sleep with his head in her lap, and then she called in a man to shave off the seven locks of his hair. In this way she began to bring him down,[d] and his strength left him.
20 Then she cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!”
When he woke up, he thought, “I will do as before and shake myself free.” But he didn’t realize the LORD had left him. Judges 16:19-20
If you read the passages above we see that God does come to the point that when He realizes that we are not acceptance of the life that He is offering us, a life of change and eternal life that He will take His hands off of you. Oh to be left by God. I know a lot of us have gotten comfortable because the scripture says that God will never leave us nor forsake us and many of us are taught that Jesus becoming flesh took away the old law. May I point out that in the New Testament, in Romans 6:16 it states that we can become sin, which simply puts mean that we get so comfortable in our sin life and God is not going to force you to serve Him, He has given us all a free will and if we choose the sin life, He is saddened but He allows us to become sin. Don't fret because He keeps His arms outstretched.
I have found that today when we have a world that is so confused, that we want to do the politically correct thing rather than the what is Godly right, that we find churches and church folk openly embracing homosexuality, and shacking as long as the church is packed and we are meeting our numbers then it's all good. This is not true, it's not pleasing in God's sight. God does get tired and whoa is the person left by God. What I am finding is that church has become so mechanical on so many levels lets talk about and do what makes the people happy and keeps them coming back. We won't reprimand them for living outside the will of God if it might upset them, and because of this we have a church full of sick hell bound folk. We need to get back to when the church mothers and deacons called you out when they saw your sin and prayed and travailed all night long until something happened. When folk were genuinely concerned about each others soul being saved.
As the songwriter said, the safest place in the whole wide world is in the will of God. So, whatever you do examine your life and make sure that you aren't going through the motions, that God has not left you and you are not to proud and self assured to realize that you are out there now all alone. As we see Samson was so proud and full of himself that when he found himself bound he said I will do what I always do only to find that God had left him. I can only imagine the thoughts in his head. Here is now calling out to God remember me, when he was the one that kept playing in the enemies camp and then got comfortable enough to go to sleep. That's where a many of us are today, we have been fooled by the enemy and made to believe that we are okay that things are great, wake up now, before you are bound and God has left you to fend for yourself in your sin.
