I Need to Feel You God

Trust me I know there are days when we feel that God is far away, but He is always right there. I know there are times when it seems what can go wrong does and then some, but don't stop praising Him. He is there. Just keep praying and pressing this too shall pass.

Psalm 13:1
How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
There is no worse feeling than feeling a distance from God. When we cry out in prayer, we need to feel His presence with us. When that feeling is absent, hopelessness and despair set in. We need to know, however, that the Lord has not really gone far from us, but we have pushed Him from ourselves. The Lord is always as close as a prayer, and we need but open our hearts to Him, and His presence will be felt once again. The Lord never hides His face from us, though often He will wait; stepping back like the loving Father that He is, to see whether or not we can struggle through a problem on our own. God wants to see us grow, and He often has to let us struggle a bit in order to allow that growth to occur. Even in those times of trial, however, the Lord is never far away, and He will not allow us to be tried beyond our endurance.

Prayer: Help me to know that You are with me in every situation at every moment of the day. I need Your comforting presence in my life, O Lord. Without it, I cannot go on. Amen.

Get Past Yourself and Move On

The LORD said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say (Exodus 4:11-12, NIV).

God has a plan and purpose for each of us those of who He wants to use tend to fight Him the most saying surely God you don't want to use me because of what I did. Well news flash God already knows what you did He was there when you did it, but more importantly He knew before He formed you in your mother's womb that you would be where you are today. We have to lay down the mentality that God needs our permission to do anything. If He has called you to anything you can run, you can make all the excuses you want eventually surrender will come. I find in my conversation with some and in my study of the word that God didn't go looking for people who always had it all together to use them. Also when I look at David, Peter, & Thomas I see that even if you had all together when He called you just because you messed up along the way being used, you aren't automatically disqualified so get past yourself and let God do what He is going to do.

Jonah ran and ended up in the belly of the whale after his running caused trouble not just for him but for the people where he took cover as well. Maybe things are rocky in your life and it's not your own doing but because of someone you have taken in is running from what God called them to do and they have pulled you into their storm. You see everything we go through is not about us. Sometimes it's about the company we keep. Sometimes, God wants to use us because of what we did. So what you have slept with every guy in his daddy. He used Rahab so who are you? He used the Samaritan women. Oh I have a lustful spirit, I battle with that in my flesh all the time I am holy but I am horny, so was David and he was the apple of God's eye. David's lust caused him to have a woman's husband killed trying to cover up the act of sin he committed by submitting to his flesh.. So yes get pass yourself and let God do what He has planned for you to do.

How can God use me I am depressed, despondent and don't do anything but complain well look at Elijah and Jeremiah. You are not that special. You ought to count it all joy that God wants to use you. I too am amazed at some of the people He chooses to use. I have found in the bible when God decided to use somebody and He needed to do a work in them first once the change was made He changed their names this was so that the people who knew them in their mess wouldn't keep associating their pass with who they were now. You see people may be looking at this now saying oh that's just Ray and Dora's girl. If they tried to make Jesus common then who are you, get pass yourself. They said of Jesus isn't that the carpenter's son and last I looked you didn't hang on a cross and die for anyone, truth be told you wouldn't be willing die for you. Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die to get there.

Real Talk:
On the far side of a desert, high upon the mountain of God, a voice called out to Moses from within a curious, fiery bush. He had been tending the sheep of his father-in-law’s flock, minding his own business, going about his normal day-in-day-out tasks when God spoke to him from the flames. On the day that God called Moses to a fresh and fiery mission. A mission of deliverance.

Once a noble prince of Egypt with the world at his feet, Moses had become a lowly shepherd with dust on his sandals. His crown had been traded in for a staff. The palace days were far behind Moses now. He fled them because of what he had done. Glancing to his left and his right to be sure that no one would see what he was about to do, Moses took a horrible situation into his own hands and killed a man. He had murdered an Egyptian and covered the body with sand.

Fear and shame bombarded his heart so he fled—away from his dream-filled, royal future to a desert place of humble hiding. The door to his yesterdays was closed. Moses had moved on to a new place. His past was his past and he had no intention of returning to it. His life was different now. Normal, not noble.

Then God interrupted Moses’s new normal. He made it undeniably clear that His plans for Moses were different. Bigger. God’s intentions were for freedom—the freedom of His people, the Israelites, who were captives, slaves to Egypt. God called Moses to face the pains of his past so that the Israelites could face a future of freedom. His plans of emancipation required that Moses obey Him, listen to His voice, follow His instructions, and trust Him.

Moses quivered and doubted. He made excuses about why he couldn’t do it. He felt completely unfit and unqualified for such a task. It was risky. But God met Moses at his doubts. He called him to courage and went on to use Moses as an instrument of deliverance, truth, power, and freedom. Yes, Moses made mistakes along the way, but God was powerful in, through, and in spite of each one. Through it all, God led as only God can. He led with power. He led with purpose. He led with love. And through Moses, God led His people to a new place of promise and freedom.

Nothing More and Nothing Less

The word below is so powerful and the lady that wrote it refers to women because she is sharing her story situation. However it is not that different mine or yours rather you be male or female we should all be humble we should all desire to be more like God and settle for nothing less. This is just confirmation for many reading this as it was for me.

Take this with you, give your burdens to God, credit Him for the good and praise Him even when things are bad, because nothing can happen without Him allowing it. I find that if I never had hard times or bad days I would never want better and I would take for granted that God is good.

Rachel Olsen
"God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth." Matthew 5:5 (NLT)
Lord, how can I become content with just who I am, nothing more and nothing less?
I'm certainly prone to want to be more, or less than I am. To be smarter, prettier, funnier, fitter. To be more productive, happier and higher energy. And then also to be lower key, calmer, more level-headed and focused.
I want to have better self-awareness, and yet I want to be less concerned about what others think of me.
I want to be a better cook, to sing on key, and to keep the house neat without so much perceived effort. And did I mention fuller, thicker hair would be nice too?
I want to be a better writer - one that's both highly creative and meticulously organized. And I want fewer propensities to run late, slack off or procrastinate.
Yes, I want to be both more and less of me.
Jesus shushes my endless listing of the things I want to change or improve about myself. Things I'm certain would give me be a better life. He asks me instead to humbly make peace with it all. To lay down my notions of a better woman and life by letting Him be the judge of that. To simply take what I'm given and offer it back to Him, in surrender and service.
Today's verse in the book of Matthew is among several in the Bible that fuels one of my core convictions: When I stop striving to create a life for myself, I find the life God creates for me. This is a powerful truth, indeed a divine secret.
His life for me begins precisely where mine ends. My life ends in my sin and striving and begins again in God's grace and power.
His empowering indwelling affords me everything I truly need and nothing I truly don't.
Do you too long to be content with just who you are in Christ - nothing more and nothing less? Jesus addresses us both in Matthew 23:11-12. Eugene Peterson describes that passage this way: ""Do you want to stand out? Then step down. Be a servant. If you puff yourself up, you'll get the wind knocked out of you. But if you're content to simply be yourself, your life will count for plenty" (MSG).
Amazingly, God's grace humbles a woman without degrading her, and His favor lifts her up without inflating her.
The life she finds in Him makes her the proud owner of everything money can't buy. As Jesus put it, "the whole earth." What she gets with humility is a life of contentment. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Dear Lord, help me quiet my critical, striving spirit today and gratefully accept who I am and where I'm at in this moment. For You are here, ready to empower my life to count for plenty right where I am. Help me also to seek and hold Your definition of "plenty" - nothing more and nothing less. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

THEY CAN'T TELL

Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature; old things are passed away all things have become new. 2 Cor. 5:17

The media and the gossip rags are all a buzz about the gospel duo Mary, Mary getting a reality show. I can understand why, now I know that as Christian we shouldn't have to walk around with the big coffee table bible under our arms, and our every response to how are you? doesn't have to be I'm blessed and highly favored; however people should be able to know that you are a Christian. The other night as I watched Joyce Meyer she said something that really made sense as Christians we are sometimes God's worst advocate. This is so true if we profess to be Christians then people should be able to tell, we shouldn't walk around our jobs getting into office gossip and politics. We shouldn't go along to get along, our demeanor should be different. I shouldn't stand in a group of persons cussing like a sailor and do it too. I should be mindful of the places I go and the company I keep.

No we won't like everybody we come in contact with, but we are to love them with the love of God, and I know everyone is not easy to love. But sometimes God sends that person along to teach us humulity and compassion. Truth time there are some people that I have worked with that if I never saw them coming again it wouldn't bother me, really there are some people in our families like that, but if we are who we profess to be we can't treat them like that. Think of this if Jesus could walk around everyday and even sleep with Judas knowing he was going to betray Him, we should be able to get through 8 hours a day. In truth unless that person is sitting right next to you then it's not truly 8 hours. There are certain things that we as Christians should be able to do and love in spite of us is one of them. I have been in the situation and I know it's hard to ignore that this person that vexes you, but they should be able to see the God in you no matter what. It took me a minute to get that but God left me right with that person for 6 years until I got it. Once I stopped reacting to her in the flesh and started reacting the way I knew God wanted me to I was set free moved on to my next assigment and lesson for life.

Is it wrong that Mary,Mary wants to get in on the world's action and do a reality show, I can't say that for sure but I can say I don't agree with it. However it's been years since I felt or thought of them as Christian Artist. I believe they are inspirational singers and feel the same about some other artist. Yes we want to meet the people where they are, but it doesn't mean we have to stay there with them. It really seems that so many Christians are getting away from promoting a life that is eternal in God and are more concerned with making a name for themselves. I would refer them to Phil. 2:3 " Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but humility consider other better than yourselves."

I close with this that as a Christian we must keep in mind that we should stand out in a crowd, people should know there is something pecuilar about us. If we are cussing right along with them, gossiping right along with them, dressing the same way then why get saved? Why get to know Jesus if there is no difference in the way you act and they act? You will one day have to give an account for your actions and what a shame it would be to think that you are heaven bound because you quote the scripture, sing songs of praise and inspiration and you get to heaven only to hear the Father say I know you not. Remember this you are suppose be different and people should be able to tell. "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of HIM who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." 1Peter 2:9

Prayer: Father God, today help me to walk in the path that you have set for me, remembering that my ways or not your ways, but that my ways are not like this worlds. That I am representative of your kingdom. Help me to help someone with a kind gesture or word that would encourage them to also want to live like you. Though I am not perfect help to remember that I am chosen and therefore all the world should be able to look at me and see. Amen

The Other Side of the Fence

The Other Side of the Fence --- Shon Garner Cole 1/25/12

Standing over here looking over there
The grass looked so much greener.
I took a chance and hopped the fenced
For a few short moments I was convinced
Yes looking back one could say I saw what I wanted
Too for some reason the grass looked very green to me
The longer I stayed, the longer I played, I realized
There were all these splotches and things that needed to be
Saved I got on my knees in a spot that was not sinking, I called out
To God and said Father Help me I have made mistake and I am
Quickly sinking it’s like this is quick sand.
As hard as I listened I heard no reply I could only here the
Spectators as they passed by.
They were content living on their side the fence. So when the
Chance came I asked one have you looked over there and thought the same
Thought that is, that the grass was greener on that side.
He looked me dead in my eye, He said I have learned to be content in the state I am
In, things always look better to you and you don’t know its sin.
I lowered my head and said did you come from over there too.
He said a longtime ago it looked like everybody over here was in like Flynn.
I started to cry and he asked me why, I said because I know better been walking with Jesus a long time.
I don’t know how I got fooled sucked in if you will,
Oh I can tell you the grass looked greener so you abandoned God’s will.
I said yeah I guess you right let me call out again; I am going to keep calling until He answers if it takes all night.
He asked if I tried to just climb the fence, go back over the way I came, he shook his said oh you are an intellectual and that makes too much sense.
I said thank you I need to petition God now if you don’t mind, he said no, I’ll stand here and be very quite.
I said Father Can you hear me, I am so sorry I cried, I surrender I want to go back over to my own side.
If you let get back I’ll never leave again. Just let me back I want to go back to when.
All of sudden I felt a light tap. I looked around and the guy was still there kneeled with one knee like a lap.
Put your foot here he said climb on up. I said for what? He said tell all who will listen salvation is free come on to the fence and follow me.
I said but I can’t get across so why call all of them they have been mocking me and heckling since I got here.
Just do it. Okay I will try, I got on His lap boldly and hollered lets go to the other side. It’s not about the grass it’s just that over there I was free and God said to all who wants it salvation is free. People started come the spectators they did.
Then with one swift push over the fence I went. I was scared to look back all I could think of was the story of Lot.
Then in front me stood the man on whose his lap took a stand, He said you are delivered you have been set free and look at the souls you won for me. I said Father it’s you I am so glad you came; His response was you are not the first one to play this sort of dangerous game. In this life everyone will fall short. But
Get up dust yourself out and over again you start. I said thank you Father, for saving me, I do cherish the blood you shed for me. He says you know my voice and you know desire is that you are no other should perish. But I can’t force anyone to take me in, or stay once they have come. I depend on you my disciples to each teach someone. I said God I plan to never jump the fence again. Because I know that my grass over here is just as green.

It's A Part of the Process

For I know the plans, I have for you, says the LORD. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jer. 29:11 NIV

We all go through a process, going through this process is a part of God's plan for our purpose. A lot of times we get impatient because we make plans and things don't go according to plan. As a child I planned what my life would be like as and adult. In my plan there was no hurt, no pain, everything was great. I was going to be a wife, a mother, have a big house and help anyone that needs my help my job was going to be one that I loved I was going to be a psychiatrist. Being a psychiatrist would allow me to fix the people that were broken and needed my help. Well as I got older I saw that things don't always go as planned.
Yes, I became a wife and mother. I have a nice house and I would like to believe I help people.. Am I psychiatrist, no. Has my life been pain free and hurt free, no.

You see I didn't take into account or consideration that God knew His plans for me, and that by allowing Him to be Lord of my life I had to go through the process to get to the purpose He had for me. Yes, I am a wife, yes I am a mother, yes I have a job, yes I help people. Sometimes people I don't want to help. Yes I have experienced pain and hurts, physical and emotional. I have been broken, bruised and battered but I am still here. Not a part of my plan but Gods. Now you will look at the scripture and think that because it says not for disaster that there would be no pain, no bad days. Well that's why we can't just take out of the bible what we want close it and put it on the shelf. There is so much more in there that brings us to our purpose but getting to our purpose is a process. You see gold does not start out as pure gold it has to go through a process a fire so hot and uncomfortable but when the process is over,it's pure gold

. We don't start out intending to have a bad day, have things that get in our way throw us off course, but this verse says, The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). Now I guess you are saying God make up your mind. He has life is a process and you are to live it with purpose.

I know that you are probably thinking how can I live it with purpose if God keeps allowing stuff to happen. You may feel that you have been duped and this Christian life ain't all that great. I see people who are not hollering about our God and they seem to be just chucking along. It;s a trick of the enemy. The only purpose worth living for is God's purpose. Paul said: "I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:14). If you live with this goal in mind, God will change the way you live. You will stop just being alive and you will start to really live. You will live the abundant life through God's grace because you aren't just living for yourself anymore. You are not here for you, but for God. Which means everything that happens is a part of His process. So how do I speed up this process and get past all this hurt, pain, inconvenience, people lying on me, people using me up and walking away? It's all apart of the process but troubles don't last always. You can get off the roller coaster of emotions that comes when you live according to your circumstances. Even when things are bad, you are good because God is good and again it's a part of the process and the path to get you to the purpose.

God always supplies that which He has ordained. If you are outside of His purpose, you have to take care of yourself. But if you are walking in His purpose, He will meet all your needs.Following God's purpose may not change your place in life, but it will change the way you live your life.

So remember that though things may not seem to be going according to your plan they are going according to His, and every trial you encounter is a part of the purpose. Getting the desired purpose requires a process. If you want a great meal, there is a process to preparing it before you can eat it. So even if you are not the one who prepared the meal, someone did, and that simply means they were a part of your purpose. They were a step in the process to get you to your desired purpose.

It's All A Process

This morning I woke at 5:07 am and I know because there was this burst of thunder and it shook the house and my eyes flew open and I looked at the clock and said, I am a friend of God. I then started to pray for a long list of people who I knew had things they were facing today. My prayer came to and end and I closed my eyes snuggle back under the cover and told God since I was up at 2a.m., I want to go back to sleep. However my hand is throbbing and I was like you know what God why is this healing hurting so much, I don't remember this pain when I first had the surgery. God said it's a process.

I then started to think God why is everything a process? Why can't things just be black and white sometime? God says healing is a process, just like coming to know me and trust me is a process. Sure as a child you knew of me, but developing a relationship with me was something different. Granny made sure you went to church and you sit and listened at the preacher say God is good, but it was loosing Granny at 17 that made you draw near to me. Still then you were going through a process, because shortly there after you got mad at me and felt like I was taking everything and everyone you loved. Later that was your testimony.

Well what I realized is that we all go through a process at different times in our lives and no two persons process are the same. This morning I wouldn't change anything that I have been through because it was all a part of the process of making me the person I am today. I know that when my storm arose it is a part of my process, the winds of the storm may blow me in a different direction but God planned it because if I had not been blown to this place then I want be able to tell somebody else what God did for me and they may think that God has forsaken them. When my disaster is their deliverance.

So don't fret about what you are going through or where you are now it's a part of the process. It's a part of God's plan for your life. Now before some of you start using this as justification don't if you are into something that you walked in on your own accord that is not God, now if you call He can come get you out but He didn't put you in an adulterous relationship, He didn't send you to the crack house, to the motel with your boo. No God is not in that but He is there and even if no one else knows or sees you He does and honestly He is the only one that can take you out of it. But surrender is a part of the process of getting out of your mess.

So in life remember this, everything is a process but it's not all God's process. Yes somethings you are going through you really don't have too, you can get out right now if you will just call on Him and ask Him to take your hand and take you out.

Where are you in your process?

My Life Is In His Hands

Bishop Walker always says what you stand under is what you understand and it is so true, in reading the Wisdom of Psalms below this came to mind. I hear so many people say what their pastor said, well before you start repeating what he said then you need to know if its true. So many pastors have become consumed with the number of people in attendance than they are with souls that are being saved. Let me ask you, would you keep going to a restaurant where you are not getting service? In short you go hungry and leave hungry because you are not being fed. Well though that pastor is held accountable so are you. You know that you are going hungry and leaving hungry, it is your responsibility to go get something to eat. God is not going to accept but I was born and raised in that church, or I can't leave that is where my entire family is. Guess what you alone will stand before God.

So I say to you in this time where church is becoming as much a business as it is a place where you go for a word study to show yourself approved and I am not promoting church hopping, but I am saying go where sound doctrine is going forth. What a man thinks so is he. So go where you will be convicted, encouraged and fed. Yes all three are important. Because we all fall short we need to be convicted of our wrongs so we can repent, we need to be encouraged and we need to be fed so that we can share with others.

You can't carry a word if you don't have one to carry.

Psalm 9:19,20
Arise, O Lord; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight. Put them in fear, O Lord: that the nations may know themselves to be but men.

It is frightening to listen to the decrees made by some of our world leaders. They hold the lives of so many people in their hands, and all too often they seem bent on destruction, not only of themselves, but of as many people as they can take with them. Were it true that they really had the ultimate power, there would be no reason for hope.

We know better, however. The only true power in this world is the power of God, and our fate will not be decided by men and women, but by God. WE are created for eternity, and so we do not need to fear the decisions made by corrupt human beings in this age. Our trust is in the Lord of all creation, and in Him there is never reason to fear or doubt.

Prayer: Father God, sustainer of life and giver of sanity in an insane world, hear the prayers of Your people and give us peace and confidence of a bright new age to come. Amen.

Evangelism: Every Believer's Calling

Acts 1:6-8
6 So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, (A)is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which (B)the Father has fixed by His own authority; 8 but you will receive power(C)when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be (D)My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and (E)Samaria, and even to (F)the remotest part of the earth.”

One Sunday, a man approached me between services to share his story. He'd been addicted to drugs and was leading a hopeless life when he heard a Scripture verse in a sermon. He said that one passage led him to place his trust in Jesus. The man was saved, and God transformed his life.
Every believer has a story. Oftentimes, the more we surrender to God, the greater our ability to see His hand in our life. And the more we watch Him work, the stronger our desire to share with others all that He has done.
The same was true of the early disciples. A small crowd gathered around Jesus before His ascension. They heard His command to spread the gospel around the globe, making disciples and baptizing people from all nations. Surely this seemed like an overwhelming task for a handful of followers, but they obeyed. Their personal experiences with Christ undoubtedly motivated them to share the good news, and they also must have gained confidence from Jesus' promise of His presence and power.
We, too, should be taking Christ's command seriously. One of our highest callings as believers is to tell others about Him. As was true for the early Christians, our own experience with the Savior is the most exciting and convincing story to tell.
Are you passionately telling others about Christ? Loving God involves not just having a personal relationship with Jesus but also sharing Him with others. The world around you needs the power of Christ. Let the Holy Spirit guide and enable you to share effectively with those around you.

The Right Purpose

Pursue, what are you pursuing is it the purpose that God has for your life? Are you following the path that God has laid out for you, you do know that if you detour you could forfeit the promise of the purpose. So stay focused don't move off emotions, don't move out of fear and desparation. You see where the scripture says, God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, it should actually read God of Abraham, Issac and Esau, however Esau acted out of desperation he was hungry, no starving and therefore he allowed Jacob to trick him out of his birthright for a bowl of soup.

So pursue with the right purpose and know this that only a fool would give up what God has promised them.

You might not see it, it may not feel like it but God is working.

***************************************************************************************************************

In His Presence: None of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions (Luke 14:33).
Are you living for the right purpose? If you experience an emptiness that never goes away, or an aimless meandering that dominates your life, these are indicators that you are not on task in pursuing God's purpose for your life. What is getting in the way of pursuing God's purpose for you? Satan fakes us out with the wrong purpose, distracting from the real purpose by influencing us to chase meaningless pursuits.
The apostle Paul said: "Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:12). God saved Paul for a reason, and Paul's goal is to live out that reason. This is true of all believers—we are saved for a reason. Satan doesn't want you to know that, so he uses distractions to keep us focused on our own pursuits.
What are the main distractions that keep us from realizing and experiencing God's purpose for our lives? One distraction is materialism, or being consumed by our possessions. Jesus made very clear that if we are to follow Him, we must give up our possessions. We can have a house, a car, or whatever, but we shouldn't make things of the physical world more important than things of the spiritual world. We shouldn't let the gifts of God become more important than the God who gave the gifts.
One Minute Please
King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, had more money than he could ever spend, but in the book of Ecclesiastes, he said the pursuit of money is empty.

No Longer a Worm, Now I'm a Beautiful Butterfly

by Shon Garner Cole on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 8:54pm
First I am a sinner saved by grace.
I managed to find out about a man name
Jesus who died in my place.
He took all my sins and cast them away.
And sometimes I forget that I am no longer
a worm, I reside in another place.
I am looking in this mirror at the colors, all the light
hitting in the right place.
Yes I am a sinner and I was saved by grace.
I know longer crawl on my belly,
I am no longer wrapped up tied up in
my little cocoon.
I have been released and not a moment too soon.
I have my wings now, they may be stronger than I
believe, but I will sit right here and flap them until
God says it's okay to leave.
I am waiting on Him to come whisper gently
fly, I can't wait but until then I take solace in knowing
that I am a child of the most High God.
I am no longer a worm, but a butterfly.

Our Convictions Our Defense

It is interesting in defining the title of this message I wanted to see exactly in what way the author of the message below was using conviction and defense, I wanted to make sure I was understanding. This is what I found; Conviction is a fixed or firm belief, a synonym of this word is persuasion. Defense is a speech, argument, etc in vindication, a synonym of this word is stronghold.

Now I could have stopped right there but as I look and listen today many families are facing trials. the enemy has made it is mission to destroy families, relationships that are a threat to his plan. So what has he done he has gotten to the weakest one in the bunch and he has planted thoughts (persuasion) and people to reinforce and defend the thoughts that he has placed in ones mind. I find it amazing that you can be in a family or a relationship most of your life and the enemy can plant a seed that you yourself water by entertaining it. As a young girl my mother use to say this and I thought it was the craziest thing I had ever heard. That no one could walk in and tell her anything any of us did, that she would entertain because she didn't see it with her own eyes especially if they didn't come with proof in hand. I remember saying mama what if it was your sister, she said she didn't care who it was. I left that conversation alone thinking that her mindset was crazy but she was my mom and I sure wasn't about to tell her I thought she was crazy I was bold but I knew when to sit down. However I later found that her thinking actually made sense, because misery loves company.

In the message below it speaks of convictions of defense. Basically said someone comes and plants a seed of negativity, something that causes you to go against what God wants for you and you allow your thoughts and your desire to be right water these seeds. Why because you don't want to be wrong, you don't want to be convicted. So you go about building your defense for your actions. That should be a red flag right there, if you have to build a defense then something ain't quite right. But you allow the enemy who comes along in the form of a friend or confident help you strengthen that stronghold in fact we are expecting the enemy to come in red suit with a pitch fork. No he is coming as a friend, a brother, a co-worker, a parent. They are telling you what they would do and wouldn't do and/or what they did. I beseech you examine what is being said because so two situations are exactly alike and no two people are exactly the same. Also anything you have to justify doing you know is wrong. I mean you don't justify why you go to work, or why you eat or why you go to church. So when you have to explain and action then you should proceed with caution.

I have found in the last year that anyone who is willing to tell you what you should do or shouldn't do rather than telling you to seek God is not someone you want to seek counsel from. While I was going through this last year I had only three negative people to cross my path and say well this, that or the other; notice the word had. I learned fast that misery loves company and even if they weren't miserable they were not going to be able to say I told her. Because my walk and worship are for real then I am able to discern when the enemy got in, I am able to discern and recognize strongholds. But do you know it's going to take much prayer to break those strongholds, because those persons have the conviction that they are right. So don't give up, God can and will change things.

We have to when we know it's God and we have to accept what He allows. So you can throw in a towel on something or someone God says that I want you to pray for but you will have to deal with God.

Blessed to Be Blessing,
Shon Garner Cole

Romans 14:20-23
20 Don’t tear apart the work of God over what you eat. Remember, all foods are acceptable, but it is wrong to eat something if it makes another person stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another believer to stumble.22 You may believe there’s nothing wrong with what you are doing, but keep it between yourself and God. Blessed are those who don’t feel guilty for doing something they have decided is right. 23 But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.

A person of conviction has become convinced, by either evidence or argument, that his beliefs are true. Today, most men and women would rather live by preference than conviction. They choose to believe something based on certain conditions and circumstances. When the situation changes, so does their loyalty. In other words, a lot of people vacillate on issues that require a firm resolve.
Contrast this wishy-washy approach with the mindset of the great men and women of Scripture. Despite many years of unfair treatment, Joseph never wavered in his commitment to godly principles . As a result, he was in the right place at the right time to ensure Israel’s survival (Gen. 50:20). Daniel, another righteous man in an idolatrous land, earned the trust of foreign kings by standing firm in his beliefs (Dan. 1:20). When his friends Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego also refused to compromise their beliefs, they influenced a king to recognize Jehovah as the one true God (3:29).
As these biblical heroes show, godly convictions can withstand the changing winds of opinion and the persuasive arguments of opponents. If we are grounded in the Word and trust what God has said, we can stand firm in our beliefs. Confidence breeds the courage to remain strong amid conflict.
Instead of following your own preferences, choose to live by godly conviction. The Bible has much to say about the most important aspects of your life. See if God’s principles and promises hold true. Through prayer and study, allow Him to firmly root you in solid biblical convictions.

GET YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER - Clarissa Lighthouse Johnson

Below is a word that I believe is on time and needed for sure a question we need to ask especially in a day where we send our kids to school and they may not return home. Now when we live in a time where you look out your window to see what's going on and you are shot. This was the title of the message preached at my friend's funeral some years ago. The one thing she wanted us to know her last word's to her mother was mama I'm okay I got my house in order. Think of the peace her mother could have, knowing this. The good thing was that her house was. I presented in March at funeral to her mother the basket that she ordered from me in December for her mom's mother's day gift. In December I told her let's just concentrate on Christmas. She said Shon, I have cancer and I got to live one day at a time. I said okay, we prayed. I made the basket, and as I presented it before the pastor got up to do the eulogy, God meant that to be the message because I shared the story of the night we were on the phone and she ordered the basket and how in praying I thanked God for giving Michelle the wisdom to get her house in order. She then searched it in the bible. Called her pastor and had him come and explain it. I am just grateful that our paths crossed. Now I hope that this word causes you examine your life and question if you died today, do you know that you would be ready, that you would see Jesus could you whisper before you expired to a love one standing near don't worry my house is in order.

To you I say what you will see again at the end of the writing, get your house in order today is a perfect day to make amends with those you may have wronged. It's the perfect opportunity to forgive someone who may have wronged you. Stop thinking and do it, it doesn't matter if you were right or wrong it's a process in getting your house in order. Throw pride out, God hates it anyway.

Blessed to Be a Blessing,

Today was just one of those days where—I didn’t feel like doing much of anything. For one, this sinus cold is really getting the best of me, and so I have been feeling kinda blah. Anyhoo, my husband is the kind of guy that likes a clean house, and being that I don’t work, I try my best to honor his request in that matter. It’s not spotless, but you know it’s enough to keep him from fussing. **ha ha**

Well I played around doing a little bit of something, but a whole lot of nothing, and when I looked at the clock, I only had 15 minutes to wash the dishes, make the bed, and straighten up the living room—by taking coats and things, and throwing them in another room. **LOL** As I was running through the house trying to get things in order before the hubby got in, I imagined, just for a moment, was this how we would be doing at the return of Christ. Would we already have everything in order, or would we be running around like a chicken with his head cut off, trying to get everything ready at the last minute?

My prayer today is…. that we will get ourselves prepared for the Lord’s return. That we will be ready and prepared like the five wise virgins, for the hour that He will return, no man knows. Have you accepted Christ? If so, are you prepared? If not, there’s not time like the present.

Stay Hopeful,

Clarissa

Why We Need Revival

Many of us have lost our passion we are going through the work doing labor, and not doing the work because it is what we love. We need to get back to the basics. Get your passion back. Ask yourself this question as well as the ones posed below, who or what took my attention from who/what I loved?

Then go back to the basics, grow in love again, once your spiritual life is right everything else comes as abundance. Don't just read your bible study it give God some personal time, and all your relationships will develop again.

Blessed to Be a Blessing,

Shon Garner Cole

**************************************************************************************************************

Scripture Readings: Psalm 85:1-13

David cries out in Psalm 85:6, "Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in You?" and as Christians we must echo that petition. How do we know if we need a revival? Historically, revivals are preceded by spiritual decline, such as divisiveness, anger, continuous crises, addictions and service without passion. Simply put, the need for revival is a result of sin in our lives.
Revival is the restoration of the spiritual life of God's people and a return to the abundant life God intended for His followers. When God revives us, we can expect real change!
If you have experienced a crisis in your life lately, examine whether God has a purpose behind it. Perhaps God has taken steps to get your attention, and the next step is yours.

First, you must identify the change that needs to take place in your own life for true revival. I encourage you to spend time asking God to let you see yourself from His perspective. Let Him tell you what needs to change!

Don't Settle for Less

Scripture Reading: Philippians 1:21; Luke 17:19; John 10:10
In my teaching series, Reversing the Curses in Your Life, I go great deal into the reversal of fortune that Elisha's servant Gehazi experienced (Read 2 Kings 7:3-16; 8:4).
His story is an important one for all of us. His life after the curse was far better than it was before. No curse is irreversible . . . whether you inherited it or brought it on yourself, you don't have to settle for it.

When God committed to being our Father, He committed to maturing us completely. It may take trials, suffering, loss, even curses to conform us to Jesus' image, but God will settle for nothing less in our lives.

Here's a bit of advice when you need reverse of the curse: Keep the right perspective. Submit to God's plan. Humble yourself. Commit to do whatever God requires. Trust in the power of God. Have faith. Believe in Jesus' promises. Praise God for what He is able to do.
Pass your test. Don't settle for less.

Saved By Grace

by Shon Garner Cole on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 11:28pm
I woke up this morning and realized that I was saved by grace
Thanked God for all the things that had taken place.
I looked back over the 42 years, I have some good times and
shed some tears, still I rejoice because I am saved by grace.
Many people think they know me, think they know my story,
Huh if they did they would understand why i always give God the Glory,
never experimented with drugs, but for the record sin is sin,
it doesn't matter if you think yours is bigger, or who did what when
if you were blessed to wake up like me, then God showed you His grace
and gave you another chance too.
I almost let one negro cause me to miss the mark,
but I realized I have dealt with dogs with bigger bites and bigger barks.
I thank God that one Thursday night sitting in my room, He came and touched me
if not negro I would be making life living hell for you,
But thank God for me and for you that I am saved by grace.
I know everyone wants to think they bad, somethings I'm taking to the grave cuz the pass is the pass
Just remember that your angel wasn't always an angel and
you ain't Charlie
I am me a gracious lady and now I am Child of the King,
who is saved by grace.
some folks say better late than never, I do to on somethings
but just no you messed up and making it right might take forever.
I ain't where I was and I ain't where I used to be, I sure ain't Jesus
But I am saved by His Amazing Grace.

SEEK GOD FIRST

January 8
Today's Reading: Genesis 20-22; Matthew 6:19-34

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33

If you do not spend time with the Lord today, the devil will kill, steal and destroy any fruit of the Spirit. The most important thing that allows us to live a victorious Christian life seems to be the hardest thing to maintain on a consistent basis. We have to understand that the power of the Holy Spirit is released by abiding in the Word. If the devil can keep you from opening the Word, you will be ineffective and have little peace in knowing the will of God. The Lord wants to instruct you and keep you in the way you should go; but you must spend time with Him for Him to be able to lead you.

We all want Jesus to run to our beck and call, but we make excuses about the time we have for Him. Well to whom much is given much is required. God gives you 24 hours every day, brand new grace and mercies none of which we earned or deserved. Considering the poll that was recently on TV if we could all sacrifice an hour of the time we spend on our cellphones, computers, tablets, and social networks heaven would be bombarded.

However these are technology and they are helping to advance the kingdom for those who use it that way to others they are tearing it down. Don't wait until a crisis hits at your door to unplug and give God that time. Give it to Him now.

Today God gave me, so I will give it back. I want to spend all of it with Him, therefore I am not going anywhere I wouldn't want Him to go, not looking at or reading anything that He wouldn't be a part of.

We make the mistake of thinking that just because God is everywhere that He is a part of everything and that is not the truth. God is everywhere but He is not in everything. So today spend a little time with Him and tomorrow add a little more you will find that each day gets sweeter than the day before.

A Blessing In Everything

Psalm 3:3

But thou, O lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
I was walking along one day, deeply troubled and feeling quite alone. Pressures and problems seemed too much to bear, and I found nothing to make me feel hopeful. My deep thought was broken by a flutter of wings and a flash of color. A butterfly flitted in front of my face, then alighted on my shoulder. The grace and beauty of the small creature broke through my depression and caused me to smile. The great weight I was feeling in my heart lifted, and I began chastising myself for having been so foolish. In a world where such glory exists, why do we continually allow worldly concerns to occupy so much our attention? Let God be our glory, and indeed, when we find ourselves most down, He will lift our heads up and show us all the wonders of His magnificent creation.

Lord, protect me from those things that turn my attention from You. Clear the eyes of my heart so they can focus on the splendor of Your creation. Thank You for the blessings of this day. Amen.

I WIN

I WIN
by Shon Garner Cole on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 11:04pm
I was broken but nobody knew,
I was wounded but I hid that too,
Who would look at me and want a part of this Christian Life.
So many times I aske God why, why me
So many time He said why not you, and if not not now when
You see He knew my next question was why now at the peak of my life
He said it's easy to be praise me when things are pefect in your world,
But now that things are upside down, your hair won't hold the perfect curl
Do you still tell people how great I am?
Yes Jesus I do, they know that it's none of me and all of you.
Do you know how many I called and they wouldn't answer,
No Jesus but what has that to do with me?
You are obedient, you may not like it, but you are obedient.
God I know many who share these quallities
Yes but they don't have your family.
Jesus, I want to be healed, I don't want to be broken, I want a heart that's healed
one that has truly forgived, a heart that looks past all the hurt,
One that looks past all the dirt. Jesus I am so tired, I can't even pray.
All I can do is cry a tear and look up to you.
Do you understand, that I fill like I'm at my wits end?
You have a plan, I'm just about to give birth, I am at my breakthrough.
How long Jesus, How long?
Keep the faith, don't give up on me now, people are watching, and they are not watching your story, they are watching to see God's Glory.
The towel is not yours, you can't throw it in.
You have to hold on we are almost at the end.
Jesus please let me say it's finished.
Well I already said it you will get to say satan again you lost and I a child of the king,
once was lost, but now I am found, was blind, but now I see, it looked liked I was
defeated, But satan, I must inform you that I am your biggest threat and
I WIN.

Get Outta Your Way

In this day that we live in, most times we are own biggest obstacle. We are the person or thing that stands in the way of our breakthrough. We give the devil too much credit yes he orchestrates a lot, but remember that he can only orchestrate what God allows. If someone from your past pops up it could be good or bad depending on the situation. You see when someone from your past pops up that has a secret you intended to take to the grave you need to immediately seek God's guidance.

So many of us are walking around with stillborn gifts on the inside, the gifts that we were to birth years ago and didn't because we wanted to do it our way and didn't listen to the voice of God. Well now God has sent something or someone that is about to make you push out that stillborn gift so you can give birth to that very live and vibrant gift that's on the inside.

Stop looking at your situation and telling God what it looks like He knows, if you need to talk about it tell your situation about the God you serve. Stop letting people get you frazzled, frazzle them by acknowledging them and tell them that you are sending up a prayer on their behalf. The last thing someone who is coming to vex you wants to know is that their mere presence didn't shake you, that you are in tune to God and carry the power of prayer.

So starting today get out of your way let God perform the deliverance He wants to, don't get all caught up in it having to be in the church at the altar. God can give you a breakthrough in your home, in your office, in your car. Wherever you surrender to Him and invite Him is the right place for a breakthrough.

Stop walking around here with a form of Godliness and you have no power, because the enemy recognizes game and that's what it is. You are going to church and quoting scriptures and you have no power. Or you can a prayer a prayer that knocks people to their knees and there is no anointing. Yeah get out of your way. This is about what God wants do in and through you, not about you making headlines.

You see the enemy is going to heaven daily saying God, she/he did this, they did that. So you confess your sin and let it go and give birth to that stillborn thing that has your womb blocked so that you can birth this new gift, the gift that God wants to use to bless millions.

So whatever you are struggling with give it to God, stop telling Him about it and start telling it about God. Fornication you can't hold me My God can deliver me, drugs and alcohol you can't be my downfall My God can deliver me. Adultery I am not a shame, God is saving God and He said let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Remember move get out the way.

GOD IS

Today, the only word I have for you is God Is. Even when you don't feel like doing anything but giving up, remember that God is. The towel is not yours to throw in, as my sister said I should let my praise change my mindset and for me that is remembering what God is for me. Today He is a mind regulator, Today He is working extra hard because I can't muster up anything but Lord help.

I Once Was Lost But Now I'm Found, I once Was Blind But Now I See

Scripture Reading: Galatians 6:1-5; Romans 12:3; James 5:19-20; James 2:13

I talked with two people on yesterday who said they thought, this was going to be a better year. Well we are only 4 days in. This year is different, this year Jesus is going to be the bases of every good thing that happens if we can get back to Jesus. We have to as Christians offer to those who are not saved A Jesus who saved, A Jesus that went through Samaria to save a soul. We have to tell people of a Jesus who went to eat with Zaccheus at his house. We have to tell people about Jesus who was writing in the sand when they brought the woman who was caught in the very act of adultery. Notice these were not church folk these were sinners who became saved by grace.

You see we are all waiting on the promises that the preachers told us about in the last 6 months of the year. But I tell you this God does deliver, His promises will come to pass but we have to confess our sins, in His word He says if my people who are called by name will turn from their wicked ways. If we admit that we are tempted to help him by selling our selves to make the light bill payment. You see in His word it says If we confess our sins then He is faithful and just to forgive us. You see, God's promises are yea and amen, but they are all predicated on us doing something. We first have to take God out of the box we put Him in. We have to take Him outside the four walls of the church. The pastor's have to come out the pulpit and start telling their stories. You see I am sitting in church on Sunday and I can't let anyone see that I am one paycheck shy of being on the street. I can't let the people know that when I go home there is no food to eat. I can't let them know that I contemplating hooking up with old boy just one more time so I can get the money for the light bill. Because after all everyone here is saved, they can't relate to me.

I need the church to stand up and admit that we all have been delivered from something, yes I once was lost but now I am found. I didn't always know Jesus, yeah I knew about Him but I didn't always know Him. I didn't always have faith the size of a mustard seed. I didn't always ignore the itch that needed to be scratched. I didn't always swallow my spit or drink a glass of water to quench my thirst. No there were times when I didn't worry about how my bills would get paid. I didn't need a man who could pay my light bill, I needed one that could pay the car note, the house note. We all had days when we were blind and didn't see Jesus for who He really was. I may not have touched your situation in these examples but know this your situation is not too big for GOD.

As I look through my bible I saw Jesus in the temple at 12. I don't see Jesus in a pulpit. So take off the blinders, read the scriptures of encouragement, that yes God can will save wretch like me. God was and is. When people change, He doesn't. When people throw their hands up He throws them open saying come. Today I remind you if no one else does, that I once was lost but now, I am found. I once was blind but now I see. God is faithful. IF there it is again, IF we will surrender to Him; no things won't always be easy, but you will get through.

A LIVING HOPE

I can't type with one hand so excuse any typo's God's promises are always conditional, IF is more often than not attached. So we as believers have to do our part. We can't live how we want to live, treat people how we want to treat them, do what we want to do an expect God to what He said He would do. Please read, meditate on this word and take your part in the deal.

Blessed to be a Blessing

Dr. Charles Stanley

1 Peter 1:3-5
Believers are born into a living hope. However, people who are without Christ have no foundation for their
expectations and desires. Many live with a false sense of security. They assume that what is important in this life is the physi-cal and material. But there is no safety in things (1 Tim. 6:9). Those who pursue wealth and health rather than God find that their dreams either go unfulfilled or fail to satisfy.
Believers anchor their hope in the solid rock of Jesus Christ. His words are always true and His promises always kept. I'll sometimes hear a person project his or her unfulfilled desires on God and then argue that He came up short. But Christians who make a request and submit to God's will always get an answer—yes, no, or wait.
The Lord does not disappoint those who seek His will. Don't misunderstand that statement. We might feel temporarily let down when something we hope for is not in God's plan. But He doesn't go back on the biblical promise to give His children the best (Isa. 48:17; 64:4). When one door closes, there is another about to open with something better behind it. Friends, the Lord cannot be outdone. We can't even wish ourselves as much good as God has in store.
The best choice a Christian can make is to fix his or her hope on the Lord Jesus Christ. Welcome whatever fits His will for your life, and turn away from all that does not. Circumstances may shift and change, but Jesus never does. He is a living hope who never disappoints.

Yesterday is Gone Let It Go

The answer to anything is in the word. 2011 may not have gone the way you wanted but it went the way God allowed it too. Everything that happened, was allowed as a piece of the foundation for your today and all of your tomorrows.

PSALM 51
1 Have mercy on me, O God,
because of your unfailing love.
Because of your great compassion,
blot out the stain of my sins.
2 Wash me clean from my guilt.
Purify me from my sin.
3 For I recognize my rebellion;
it haunts me day and night.
4 Against you, and you alone, have I sinned;
I have done what is evil in your sight.
You will be proved right in what you say,
and your judgment against me is just.[a]
5 For I was born a sinner—
yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.
6 But you desire honesty from the womb,[b]
teaching me wisdom even there.
7 Purify me from my sins,[c] and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
8 Oh, give me back my joy again;
you have broken me—
now let me rejoice.
9 Don’t keep looking at my sins.
Remove the stain of my guilt.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a loyal spirit within me.
11 Do not banish me from your presence,
and don’t take your Holy Spirit[d] from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and make me willing to obey you.
13 Then I will teach your ways to rebels,
and they will return to you.
14 Forgive me for shedding blood, O God who saves;
then I will joyfully sing of your forgiveness.
15 Unseal my lips, O Lord,
that my mouth may praise you.
16 You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one.
You do not want a burnt offering.
17 The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit.
You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
18 Look with favor on Zion and help her;
rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then you will be pleased with sacrifices offered in the right spirit—
with burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings.
Then bulls will again be sacrificed on your altar.

Rejoice, Again I Say Rejoice

Philippians 4(Read Entire Chapter)

4 (G)Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. (H)The Lord is at hand; 6 (I)do not be anxious about anything, (J)but in everything by prayer and supplication (K)with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And (L)the peace of God, (M)which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Happy New Year, I apologize for there being no word on yesterday, but I am trying to get it to you today in spite of it all. I pray that you woke up this morning, and you felt the change and shift in this atmosphere that happened last night, God gave me the word Rejoice on yesterday and since I couldn't type i reflected. You see 2011 was a hard year but I wouldn't change a thing, for as much hurt, pain and disappointment that I experienced. I experienced Joy as well, and I have to say that I have been on this journey with God a long time, But last year I experienced Him in a whole new way. I never doubted that He was there, but we got up close and personal.

I would like to thank every person that contributed to the pain, the pain that made me stronger. I want to thank God for every mountain that He brought me over. Thank you to each of you who responded and let me know how my transparency has helped, but keep watching God is about to really Show Out,

Whatever, happened in 2011, happened you can't change that, rejoice, again I say rejoice, because you were delivered if you are still here reading this. I don't care what things looked like and what they look like this morning, last night God performed a shift and if you will allow it to take place in your life you are about to walk in an abundance of God's favor. Now some may not get this as fast you, be patient this is the beginning of a new season for your life and it's going to be awesome. Every Chance you get, you need to praise Him, you need to tell someone all about him.

Last year I faced one of the darkest times in my life that turned out to be the source of brightest light in my life. I found my way and my place in life, and I started walking in my destiny. God did and will continue to do great things. So yeah it was a hard year for many of us but today we are still here. I don't know about you, but i'm better and I can't wait till God tells me for the last time push. You see what I am birthing is so big He had to take doors down not just open them.

Today as you go about your day, remember it's not about the black eye peas, the cabbage and pork. It's about what God wants to do for you and through you. So I am abounding in the joy that I have this morning. I pray that each of you will let God guide and lead you in this 2012. It's not just a new year, it's a new season, a new beginning.

To be successful this year you have to totally surrender to and trust God. He really is the answer. Rejoice in all He has planned for you. Don't worry about who knows your name but who knows HIS.

Happy New Year,
Shon Garner Cole
